Easy Valentines to Make with the kids

Happy Valentine’s Day!

My kids go to a school that likes homemade valentines to be brought in, so I thought I’d share what we made. They are super simple and the kids love them. They also use up old crayons that no one wants to color with anymore and gives them new life. A win-win if you ask me.

1. Collect all of your broken, half used crayon pieces and remove the paper wrapping. (This is a great step for kids to do)
2. Break them into smaller pieces if they are not already small. Fill the heart shaped molds (or whatever molds you have). My kids love this step and get very creative with arranging the colors. Make sure they are not too full though as the crayons turn into liquid and you don’t want them to overflow.
3. Bake at 200° F until melted. 
4. Carefully remove the pan or mold and let sit on the counter for 5-10 minutes to cool and allow the crayons to start to harden again.

   

   

5. Place the whole mold in the freezer for another 5-10 minutes.
6. Simply pop the new heart shaped crayons out. If they are not easy to remove, place them in the freezer for another 5-10 minutes or until they are.

   

7. Use a Sharpie to write who they are from.
