Ororo Heated Vest Review: Stay Warm While at Your Kid's Winter Activities

It can be miserable sitting at one of your kid’s practices or games if you’re cold. I know from experience. You want to support your child and be present, but you’re freezing. All you want is to stay warm. I’ve layered on long underwear, a long sleeve shirt, a sweatshirt, and a jacket with a vest insert with gloves and a beanie, and I was still cold as I watched my daughter ride her horse, all while jiggling my legs and feet, trying to keep them from becoming numb from the cold.

Stay Warm During Winter Activities

My oldest is an equestrian and rides her horse year-round. It didn’t help me to stay warm when she would ask me to video her going over jumps. Invariably, I’d have to take a glove off to zoom in or out or start or stop the video. My gloves are supposedly cell phone compatible, but my phone didn’t always agree. When I was done, my fingers would be ice cold, and I would be unable to move them or warm them back up.

I love watching my daughter ride and sail over jumps. I love recording videos of her lessons so she can watch herself after and see what her trainer meant to be able to improve. I love being at the barn and around horses. I do not love being cold, though.

Then my daughter started riding with her high school equestrian team, and instead of being in a covered arena that at least kept the wind from making me more miserable, practices were held outside where the wind dropped the temperature even more. All chance of even trying to stay warm completely disappeared.

Thankfully, I was introduced to the Ororo heated vest, and everything changed. I stay warm now.

It was the best Christmas present I have received in a long time. I love, love, love my heated vest. I no longer dread going to equestrian practices during winter now.

Ororo’s Heated Vest Keeps You Warm

I have the women’s classic heated vest. It has a heated collar that keeps my neck warm, an upper body heating zone on the back, and a lower heating zone in front to keep me nice and warm front and back.

The best thing, in my view, is that the heating zone in front also heats the pockets, so even when I don’t have gloves on or take video and freeze my hands, I can put them in the pockets, and they warm up in minutes. It also has three heat settings (low, medium, and high).

I admit I was a little nervous about washing a heated vest, but you just remove the battery, zip up the zippers, stick it in a washing bag, wash it on the delicate cycle in cold water, and line dry it. It’s ready to help you stay warm in cold weather again, just like that.

I do recommend purchasing a second battery, so you can have uninterrupted warmth. I started with just one battery. After running out of juice partway through a few practices, I purchased a second one. The battery life is great, but it would last longer than one practice.

I like to drain my batteries before recharging them, so I would go to other practices with a partially charged battery. I knew it would die during the second or third practice, but I didn’t want to charge it again until it was completely drained. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but I learned the battery capacity would diminish if you didn’t drain it before charging. Purchasing a second battery solved this problem. I would just unzip the vest, change the battery, and be back to staying warm.

If your kids participate in any winter sport or you are outside in the cold often and like to stay warm, then I highly recommend you purchase an Ororo heated vest with a spare battery. It will change your life for the better. I know it has for me.
