With Christmas just around the corner, I thought I’d share some of my favorite things, both for myself and for my kids, because when the kids are happy (and busy), you’re happy (and have some time to yourself for self-care!). This Mom’s Self-Care Gift Guide contains my top picks for holiday gifts for moms looking for a self-care treat, to up their self-care in the new year, to focus on working smarter (not harder) on the things that will bring them happiness, and for gifts for kids of all ages and stages. Some keep on giving throughout the year, so you can put your self-care on autopilot.

For Moms:

Alltrue

This is one of my favorites. I have a hard time spending money on myself. But two years ago, I splurged and subscribed to Alltrue (previously CAUSEBOX), and I’m so glad I did. It was one of the best things I did for my self-care which is why it’s at the top of my self-care gift guide! Some of my most favorite items are from Alltrue. I use the Tease bottle from my most recent box daily! After purchasing a single box, I switched over to the yearly subscription so I could customize. I really wanted to pick my Glass Ladder & Co. portfolio color. I do not have any regrets.

To be honest, some things in the box are not things I would have picked for myself (beauty products mostly), but I still give them a try. It’s a really nice way to try things out that I would otherwise not know about at all. Some I have liked and purchased again. Others, I haven’t, but they were still a nice treat to try out. It’s nice to know, too, that everything is “ethically made, sustainably sourced, [and] cruelty free.” They even have an add-on market where you can purchase items separately as well. You must be a subscriber to shop their market, though.

Alltrue includes a nice variety of items. I’ve received jewelry, kitchen items, beauty products, home decor items, things to help with sustainable living, and organizational items including the portfolio case I use as my computer case. And in the box I’ll be receiving soon, there’s a sweater I’m pretty excited about.

Erin Condren

To help you stay organized, figure out meal plans, budget, make sure you practice self-care, and keep track of a number of other things, Erin Condren is a must. I’ve been using an Erin Condren planner and PetitePlanner journals for a while now and love them! There are also a number of other fun things, like markers, stickers, and washi tape, to bring some fun into your day and planning.

Hand Lettered Design

A great way to take a few minutes for your self-care is by learning a new hobby that helps you work on your mindset. I purchased The Guide for Mindful Lettering bundle by Hand Lettered Design (save 5% when you use this link) last year and love it. And I get to create something beautiful in the process!

Yoga Nidra

I am not a yoga person. Maybe I should be. I do need to work on my flexibility. I am lucky enough to have a close friend who is a yoga instructor, though, who is opening up the yoga world for me. Because of her, my older daughter and I tried some yoga classes over Zoom during the height of COVID when we stayed home. We really enjoyed the fact that we were able to do the classes at home where no one could see how poorly we were actually doing the poses.

I’ve also been able to experience my friend’s extremely relaxing Yoga Nidra. If you struggle with relaxing or just want to promote better sleep or better habits, I highly recommend you try a Yoga Nidra session with Kate. Click here to read more about the classes she offers. To try a class for only $1, go here. Classes are over Zoom, so she can work with you no matter where you live.

Danielle LaPorte

Start the year off right and set yourself up for success. Find out what you truly desire and learn how to schedule your day to achieve it! I’ve gone through the Desire Map Program the last three years. I love when I finally have my words and know what I truly want to work toward that year. It’s revealing and has propelled me along my self-care journey. I highly recommend you take a look at Danielle LaPorte for your own self-care journey and give Desire Mapping a try.

If you’d like even more support throughout the year, then take a look at Danielle LaPorte’s Heart Centered Membership. She provides a monthly theme with a guidebook that has practices and rituals for you to choose from. The membership also includes two monthly live video calls and two live meditation classes plus more, like printable cue cards and mantras. If you really want to commit to your self-care, the Heart Centered Membership could be just the thing you’ve been waiting for.

For Kids (So Mom Has Time for Self-Care):

KiwiCo

One of my most important self-care items is one that keeps my kids entertained so that I have some time for myself. KiwiCo accomplishes this every single time! I was first introduced to them when I visited my sister a little over a year ago and was lucky enough to work on one of these crates with my five-year-old nephew. Although I did the crate with him, he would have been able to make his automaton on his own with minimal help from Mom.

As soon as I got home, I looked them up and had my girls take a look to see if they were interested. They both, easily, found boxes they wanted to subscribe to. With the variety of boxes they have to choose from, it wasn’t hard. They really do have something to interest kids of all ages, including teenagers! (To be honest, my teen has received some Maker Crates that I’d like to do.) My nine-year-old loves her Tinker Crate. She lights up whenever it arrives and does it immediately. This gift is really a gift for both Mom and kid!

Books

Every Christmas my girls receive a book in their stockings. I’m an avid reader, and so are my girls. Reading is a wonderful way to take a moment to yourself, go off on an adventure, or learn something new. When my girls become immersed in a book, they can sit quietly for hours. (It’s also a wonderful way to expand vocabulary.) To find your child’s next favorite read, take a look at Bookshop where you get the convenience of shopping online while supporting local, independent bookstores.

A few of our family’s favorites are If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, Rump, Storybound, and Keeper of the Lost Cities. If you’re looking for something for yourself or the mom in your life, I highly recommend Caraval (for fun—i.e., self-care) and Untangled (something every parent should read, especially if you have girls!).

If you’re looking for some other gifts ideas for the kids, take a look at my Holiday Gift Guide for Kids. Whatever you decide to gift this year, I hope you and your family enjoy the season and stay healthy!

Happy Holidays!
