Day 5 of NaNoWriMo and I’m still in there. The words just keep flowing onto my computer screen and each night when I go to bed, I am amazed. It’s a piece of crap, don’t get me wrong, but I have almost 9000 words down. Not only am I meeting the word count to stay on track, but I’m ahead slightly. A few nights I could have kept going, but chose to stop and save the words for the next day. I know I’m going to run out though. I’m already on Chapter 7 and I have it planned out for 12 chapters, so sometime and sometime soon the words will end.
At that point though I’m hoping I can go back and flesh some things out. I need to go through and fill in stuff, add more detail and descriptions. I’m hoping that will keep me plugging along awhile longer. I still don’t think I’ll reach 50,000 words, but I will definitely finish. I already have my 8,000 words I need to finish my writing course through the Institute of Children’s Literature so that goal is reached and it’s only day 5!
It’s amazing how much the graph and status bars help. I love watching the “words written today” bar fill up and become completely blue and watching my word count for the day go up and up until it reaches or exceeds the diagonal one going across. Whoever started NaNoWriMo, thank you! This is exactly what I needed to get myself motivated.
