So I’m not super excited about my progress this past week, but I do feel like I am still on the right track. Not much has happened with the pieces I want to submit, but I have been writing. I keep a journal for my daughter where I write down things I think she would like to know about when she gets older. This way I can share things with her while they are going on and help record the small things that are such big events while they happen, but small details in the long run that eventually get forgotten. I’ve enjoyed looking back and reliving things I had forgotten about and hope that she will too someday. This past week, I have written in it more than I have in a while. Writing for my daughter was more important this week and I’m glad that is where I focused my attention.
I also started working on a short story for a contest. I’m curious to see if I’m able to get the story written and edited and submitted before the February 28th deadline. I think I’m a writer who is motivated by deadlines that I can’t push back. We’ll see if that is the case or not with this contest.
I mentioned a book in last weeks post that I was hoping to have read by now, but it has not arrived yet. Maybe it’s a little optimistic to think I would have read it by now anyway. I only get to read one page at a time now instead of chapters at a time. (That is unless I’m reading to my daughter. Then we go through a whole stack of books at a time. Mind you, they are early reader books.) Eventually books get finished though. Hopefully I’ll get the writing book soon so I can get more out of my writing time. I’ll let you know what I think of it once I read it. It will be interesting to see how long it takes me to read it too.
